Gold Strike Canyon Hot Springs Trail — Lake Mead

This hidden gem is about half an hour drive outside of Las Vegas near both the Historic Boulder City and Lake Mead. It’s about a 6-mile, out-and-back hike, descending 600-feet into the beautiful, looming canyons with fun challenges like climbing down eight ropes while following spray painted arrows until you reach the different hot springs and pools, you’re able to soak in. Don’t forget that the hike back up can be just as tough as the hike down!

Calico Tank Trail — Red Rock Canyon

A great trip for families or those looking for a shorter hike, with it being a little over 2 miles. You get to travel up the yellow and red sandstone canyons, with an overlook of Las Vegas at the end. Most of the trail is fairly easy and is a do-able hike year round.  It’s a popular out-and-back trail that that is a definite stop for those wanting to enjoy the Vegas outdoors.

Fire Wave Hike — Valley of Fire State Park

An hour away and part of Nevada’s oldest and largest state park, it’s a definite go-to spot for anyone visiting or local. Under a mile long (1.5 miles roundtrip), the trail is fairly easy but some of the most spectacular natural stripes and patterns you can find. Definitely take in your surroundings on this shorter hike, but don’t be afraid to check out all the other trails in the area too!

Lone Mountain Loop Trail — Lone Mountain Park

A perfect trail for beginners, this loop trail goes a little over 2 miles (3 if you head to the top and back) and is both kid-friendly and dog-friendly, with some off-leash areas. At the base of Lone Mountain, it’s the perfect place for a quick getaway and workout.

Mary Jane Falls Trail — Mount Charleston

The hike to Mary Jane Falls is 1.6 miles (3.2 miles roundtrip). It’s a busier, little more difficult trail with multiple switchbacks, higher elevations, and steep, narrow paths but with spectacular views and interesting caves to enjoy once you reach the top.
