Hey BigHead App Privacy Policy
Hey BigHead Mobile App Privacy Policy
Updated October 23, 2026. This policy describes the Hey BigHead podcast app for iPhone and Android, operated by Neon Blvd LLC. For privacy questions, contact [email protected].
Browsing without an account
You can browse episodes, guests, playlists, and Shorts and listen without creating an account. Public content, images, audio, and videos are requested from Hey BigHead and its media providers. Those requests include information needed to deliver the content, such as your IP address, device or browser information, and the content requested.
Guest listening progress, recent searches, followed guests, the playback queue, and playback preferences are stored on your device. Guest progress is kept separately from signed-in account data and is not automatically added to another person’s account.
When you search, your search terms are sent to the Hey BigHead content service to return results. The recent-search list stays on your device, but the corresponding network requests may be recorded in server security and operational logs.
Optional accounts
If you create an account, we process your email address, display name, account identifier, and authentication information to verify your email, sign you in, maintain your session, and help you reset your password. Supabase provides authentication and our account database. Passwords are handled by the authentication service; we do not store a readable copy in your profile or source code. Session credentials are stored using the device’s secure credential storage.
Saved episodes and account listening progress are associated with your account so they can be restored when you sign in. Profile changes, notification preferences, community votes, and questions you submit are also associated with your account when you use those features. Other app users cannot access your private account records through the app.
Guest applications, sponsorship inquiries, and support
When you submit a guest application or sponsorship inquiry, we receive the name, email address, story, business information, optional sponsorship budget range, links, and other answers you choose to provide. Applications are saved in the show’s private WordPress inquiry workflow and sent to the responsible Hey BigHead team by email. An app account is not required. We use request identifiers and hashed rate-limit information to prevent spam and duplicate submissions.
Applications and support correspondence are separate from your app account. Deleting an app account does not automatically delete these records. To request their deletion, contact us and identify the application or correspondence. Do not send a password or verification code.
Services that help operate the app
- Supabase: account authentication, profiles, saved episodes, listening progress, and private community submissions. The app’s account database is hosted in the United States.
- Google email services: account verification, password-reset messages, and support correspondence through [email protected].
- Hey BigHead hosting and WordPress: public editorial content, images, and private application records.
- Buzzsprout and its delivery providers: the podcast feed and audio streaming. Buzzsprout records IP address, user agent, and sometimes the referring URL to provide listening statistics and prevent fraudulent downloads. It uses this information to infer general location, not precise GPS coordinates. See Buzzsprout’s Privacy Policy.
- YouTube/Google: videos played using YouTube’s official embedded player. The app uses privacy-enhanced embeds and does not share the app’s account credentials with YouTube. Video playback still sends network, device, viewing, and delivery-diagnostic information to Google, which may use network identifiers to infer general location; privacy-enhanced mode does not mean that no information is processed. YouTube may show non-personalized ads. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Expo, Apple, and Google push services: if you opt in and connect a supported device, a device push token and your chosen notification categories are used to deliver notifications. You can change permission in your device settings.
The public release configuration does not enable PostHog product analytics or Sentry diagnostics. The presence of those optional libraries in the app does not activate them. Apple and Google may process store, installation, or diagnostic information under the settings and privacy policies for their platforms.
We do not request access to your precise location, contacts, camera, microphone, advertising identifier, or personal media library. The app does not process payments. If you open a website or another app from a link, that destination’s privacy policy applies.
Retention and deletion
Account records are retained while your account exists. In-app account deletion removes the account and its linked profile, saved episodes, account listening history, notification registrations and preferences, votes, and question submissions from the active app database. Guest data on a device remains separate. Cached public content is not an account record.
Our account database has a rolling seven-day daily-backup recovery window. Deleted active records may remain in those backups until the backups expire. Provider operational and security logs are separate from these backups and may remain under the provider’s retention practices; the seven-day backup window is not a promise that every provider log is erased within seven days. See Supabase’s privacy information and Google’s Privacy Policy. Records needed to address fraud, comply with law, or resolve a dispute may be retained for that purpose. Guest/sponsor applications and support email remain in their separate private workflows until the team removes them or a deletion request is completed.
To delete an account in the app, sign in and open Account → Delete account, then confirm. You can also request deletion without installing the app from our account and data deletion page.
Your choices
You can browse without an account, edit your display name, remove saved episodes, sign out, manage device notification permission, and delete your account. Clear recent searches and remove followed guests or queued episodes in the app. Contact us for access, correction, or deletion requests that are not available directly in the app. We may ask you to verify control of the relevant email address before acting on an account request.
Children and changes to this policy
Hey BigHead is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. Some conversations include mature topics, including occasional sexual discussion. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and remove it as appropriate.
We may update this policy when app features or data practices change. The published page will show its updated date. Contact: [email protected] or Hey BigHead support.
